Liliac band i hate myself for loving you6/27/2023 ![]() “In catching a venereal disease? Not a chance.” Behind the cocky assurance, I could see the small glimmer of hope that I’d say yes. “Tell me you’re not interested,” he challenged. but heroines like Braxton are true unicorns. a good heroine who knows her own worth and respects herself is key for me to love a book. The moment she declared she wasn’t a punching bag for the three of them i was a goner for Braxton Fawn. I’ve been asking for your respect when I should have told you that you haven’t even begun to earn mine.” I’m still not convinced, but I finally know the reason why. You trample, growl, and puff out your chest just to show me who’s in charge. “You behave like a boy who’s just been told he has to play nice with girls. she was sharp and quick, and i found it so endearing. she didn’t throw barbs or insults, just facts and intelligence. she stood up for herself in a witty and articulate way. any time they were dicks (which was legit all the fucking time), she never cowered. the dynamic between her and guys was forever changing- she didn’t always have the upper hand, and by doing so, the author explored her flaws, limits and imperfections.īut she also had the three of them by the balls. she would have the trio by their throats one minute, while being their little plaything the next. she wears a smirk but it often slips and her vulnerabilities are stark and fierce. mind you, she still was decked out in the typical Effy Stonem attire but she was by no means overly cocky and obnoxious which can occur with this type of heroine- rather than being a fun badass, the caricature ends up being overly in your face, which is just irritating and stifling.īraxton still flounders and fumbles. she wasn’t a caricature *cough* Blake/Blair/Blakley *cough* of the edgy bad girl decked in fishnet tights, combat boots and eyeliner. ![]() you saw those four stars? no you fucking didn’t.)īraxton was just the right amount of snarky, determined and bitchy with a backbone of steel. (and i am also aware of my own hypocrisy since this book should be everything i despise in a romance. ✨this lil old review is riddled with spoilers just as i imagine Loren is riddled with a variation of venereal diseases. she’s normally the lackey, at the beck and call of several arrogant, petulant rockstars and the dynamic isn’t always fun.īut Braxton was an equal to our three heroes, even if they didn’t initially see that, and it’s why this book stands out for sure. basically any role where she’s professionally inferior to the hero(es). instead of being a roadie, a personal assistant, a sober companion. I loved the slight twist on the rockstar romance here by having Braxton, our heroine, become part of the band as a member. whatever the fuck her crusty arse was called, wasn’t a BTEC version of Braxton? while our trio of rockstars weren’t awfully replicated in the form of Blake/Blair/Blakley’s cohort of stepbrothers? but i digress. Reading multiple grown men bully said woman for her mere existence.īut firstly: the way Stepbrothers' Darling wishes it was this book. Is there anything better than reading a fully grown man, fuelled by trauma, alcoholism and daddy issues relentlessly bully a woman bcos she merely exists? Lilac is a reverse harem and standalone suitable for ages 18+. It seemed easy enough when I boarded their tour bus, but it only took one city for the lines we'd drawn to blur. Somehow, I must resist the temptation of Houston Morrow, Loren James, and Jericho Noble. But the biggest threat of all isn't a meticulous front man, a narcissistic bassist, and a drummer with too many secrets. To succeed I have to survive a world tour, public scrutiny, and idols turned enemies. The label wants a new image, Bound wants me gone, but I've got my own agenda. ![]() It's no secret I wasn't their first choice. Jaded, gorgeous, and ridiculously talented-they're determined to turn my dream into a nightmare. From dive bars to the big stage, my instant claim to fame is nothing short of a fairytale. ![]() When Bound loses its lead guitarist, yours truly is chosen to fill his shoes. I, Braxton Fawn, am the luckiest girl alive.Įvery so often, gods walk the earth.
